90 stores to celebrate our 90th anniversary!
What a happy coincidence for la belle-iloise to open the 90th direct-to-consumer store on our 90th anniversary. It was certainly something we couldn’t have foreseen when we opened our very first store in 1967 in Port-Maria, the fishing port of Quiberon. Since then, our beautiful shopfronts have continued to pop up in all four corners of France. First along the sea, in the country’s most charming coastal locations, and then its largest cities.
Opening our 90th store in Angers
La belle-iloise lands in Angers, laden with a host of gorgeous, tasty tins, gift ideas and recipes, and lots of enthusiasm at the thought of seeing you there. Our store in Angers opened its doors on 11 June at 25 Rue Voltaire, a mere stone’s throw away from the Château des Ducs d’Anjou.
Aside from bringing a bit of the Quiberon to the ‘city of flowers’, this new store was designed to showcase healthy eating. Enter this fresh blue shop front and immerse yourself in la belle-iloise’s colourful ocean universe; its walls covered in tins from top to bottom. Antoine and Nathalie, our local ambassadors, can’t wait to greet you and provide you with a personalised customer experience and helpful advice to indulge yourself.
But that’s not all! This new space is the first to offer a selection of fresh products, manufactured by our local partners, exceptional artisans straight from Brittany. In addition to our divine products, you’ll find a selection of premium ones: fine smoked fish, taramasalata, cheese with seaweed, and other delicacies with a dash of the ocean.
90 locations for immersion, meetings and encounters
Our 90 stores are designed to plunge you into the universe that is la belle-iloise, offering people the opportunity to take a flying visit into a welcoming, epicurean world made of meetings and encounters. Because our aim is to satisfy you, our sales teams are there to explain who we are and what makes us different: the quality of our fish, the origins of our ingredients, our manufacturing secrets, the history of our family company, and so on. They are also there to help you choose from our endless selection of exquisite products, advise you on their uses, and provide you with the best recipes from our head chef.
Voted Best retail chain 2022 in the fine foods category, la belle-iloise is proud to have succeeded in selling direct to consumers. It started in the 1960s, when the founder, Georges Hilliet, chose to forgo the flourishing trade in large retail outlets and preserve the quality of his products at all costs. “If I have to, I’ll sell my sardines on the beach!” declared Hilliet. He categorically refused to bend to the quantitative logic of supermarkets, heeding his absolute desire to preserve the excellence of his products. And it’s mission accomplished!
