Arvorig, the new vegetable soup from Brittany : authenticity, taste and innovation

Sixty years after launching its first fish soup in 1962 (and many others since then), la belle-iloise is unveiling its first fish-free soup this autumn: Arvorig soup. Discover this surprising vegetable soup with a recipe that is an ode to Breizh(Brittany) and truly original flavours.

A homage to Brittany and its local producers
Renowned for its fantastic seafood products, Brittany also has treasure on land: vegetables grown by passionate producers. These producers are very much partial to authenticity and have a real savoir-faire. And the Arvorigsoup puts all that on show.
“Brittany’s culinary universe is authentic, with no frills. It’s very much focused on naturalness and the ingredient’s natural taste. With this recipe, we sought to bring out the quality of the ingredients. And that’s what we aim to do at la belle-iloise in general,” François Sehier, our head chef and R&D manager who created the recipe, explained
That’s why we combined a trio of ingredients harvested locally in season, products that are particularly suited to the region’s mild climate: artichokes, seaweed and Breton buckwheat. The three varieties of organic seaweed selected —kombu royal, dulse and wakame—are organic, like the buckwheat flour with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).
Did you know ‘Arvorig’ is Breton for Armorica, meaning ‘country close to the sea’?

An invigorating eating experience as autumn arrives
The first spoonful of Arvorig soup will be surprising. The texture is as smooth and velvety as it is crunchy, and the aromatics are perfectly balanced. Then you’ll start to recognise the taste of each ingredient, which we’ve all tried at least once in our lives.
The flavour of bygone days in the form of artichoke, the toasted smell of buckwheat, and the saline taste of seaweed tickle your tastebuds as you eat. You’ll discover a whole new world that marries sea and plant-based notes for an unparalleled taste experience.
So, sink into the autumnal softness of this new-generation soup, reminiscent of a certain magic potion (think Asterix and Obelix)!

A vegetable soup at the very heart of our mission.
At la belle-iloise, we act and innovate day in and day out to offer you healthy, responsible food. Every day in the Quiberon, our job is to make good products accessible for healthy, good eating for ourselves and the environment.
As well as our delicious tinned fish, you can now mix things up by adding plant-based ingredients to your meals: vegetables and seaweed harvested in season.
More vegetables and plant-based matter on our plates are great for the body and the planet. That’s why we createdArvorig, a soup with a high vegetable and seaweed content, foods known for their antioxidant properties and precious nutrients.
