Giving everybody a chance
Companies have their part to play when it comes to fostering diversity in their communities. In fact, it’s a genuine responsibility. Companies serve as a platform for individuals to exchange views, and they can bring their convictions to the table by sharing them with all those around them.
This can only happen if there is a collective understanding of inclusion and diversity. As these terms are not set in stone, each company must define its interpretation.
· 46% of staff state that they do not understand what truly lies behind diversity-related terms.
So, while attempts are being made to increase general awareness, the need for change in the workplace speaks volumes.
· 58% of recruiters believe that their company has not introduced any actions to promote diversity.
· 42% of the working population believe they need to adapt their job applications to avoid falling victim to discrimination.
At la belle-iloise, we need everyone, absolutely everyone. The company has grown with the seasons, thanks to the resilience of seafarers, people with different life experiences who come from all walks of life. Today, we are committed to perpetuating these values.
We believe that inclusion puts us on the path to openness, allowing our employees to be themselves and grow and flourish as the company does. This approach is intimately linked to diversity and is representative of our differences. It can sometimes be a source of misunderstanding, but more often than not, it is a source of personal and collective development.
Every day, the company does its utmost to welcome whoever wants to join it and enable the teams to promote this initiative. In concrete terms, diversity looks like this at la belle-iloise.
A broad spectrum of ages
Whether in the factory, offices or direct-to-consumer stores, you’ll find a range of ages: 46% of la belle-iloise staff are between 18–30 years old or more than 51— a generational mix fostering more knowledge transfers.
Diverse origins
There are more than 20 nationalities working for la belle-iloise. This richness has always existed within the company. What’s more, every year for the last three years, we have been working with the regional authority Région Bretagne, and job and training services Pôle emploi and IBEP Formation to employ 10–15 refugees.
Hiring based on motivation
There’s no need for a CV, proof of training, specific skills or work experience. All you need is motivation. That is how we recruit certain positions in our factory.
For all these reasons, la belle-iloise is committed to enabling everyone to enter the company, thereby turning diversity into a force for its communities.
